Bronze column, Summer '02

This was a very odd contract.

A homeowner on Queen Anne hill wanted a column that ran up one side of a 3 story stairwell to be clad in bronze so a waterfall could cascade down the inside surface.

It took 1 ton , or 12 sheets, of 4' x 8' x 1/8" thick silicon bronze.

A crew of 4-7 people worked over a few weeks to raise the panels, weld all the seams and grind off the beads so it appeared to be a solid bronze monolith embedded in his house.

The panels were nailed to the inner structure using silicon bronze boatnails.

The nails were later welded to the panels and the heads ground off.

A very challenging job.
