Backsplash, counter support, fireplace screen, and andirons, Winter '01

This job began with the backsplash, then we made the cantilever support for the fused glass counter. The glass panel was made by Peter David Studios.

The fireplace screen is blackened stainless steel wire cloth with a stainless steel frame. The andirons were designed from the Calder painting hanging above the fireplace.

An image of the painting was imported into a graphics program, and two of the shapes were chosen. Where the painting has light and dark, I used shiny and flat. The andirons are made of layered pieces of 3/8" stainless steel, plasma cut from plate and welded together.
