Over a twenty year period I made and repaired many anvils.
I called the ones I made "Avatar" brand anvils.
The process I used to make anvils was simple in concept, but difficult and time consuming in practice. It involved cutting the anvil from solid steel plate using a cutting torch, and then cladding the impact surfaces with a harder metal alloy using a special welding wire.
The benefit of this system is that you can make an anvil of any size or shape you like.
The problem is that to lay down that much hardface in multiple layers and grind it down to a smooth flat surface takes an enormous amount of energy and time.
