These are some pictures of the Notching grinder I use for fitting round tubing joints.

The grinder is based off of a 9" Ryobi right angle grinder that I wasn't using. I mainly deal with tube and pipe in the 1.5" - 2" range for handrails. For smaller tubing sizes a 4-1/2" right angle grinder would work fine.

As you can see in the pictures , I have 2 plattens for this grinder. One is in line with the center hub of the grinding wheel and the other is declined 30 degrees. Between these 2, I can grind most profiles easily.

To use the grinder just attack one side of the tube at a time. The plattens are simply clamped in place as needed.

I have an idea for an adjustable platten, but haven't found it necessary.

The Grinder is designed to clamp to the edge of any handy table.

I use standard 1/4" thick x 7" diameter grinding wheels designed for hard steels or stainless steels.

To use this grinder effectively you need to be able to guesstimate how to lay out a fishmouth pattern.

One of the fishmouth pattern programs available for PCs will help immensely.

I also have a sheet metal dust guard that surrounds the wheel, and also simply clamps to the table, but I couldn't find it to include in the photos.
